Currently, my spiritual teachers are angels, dragons and Ascended Masters , but there is a plethora of spirit guides whom you may encounter as a part of your individual support team.

I want to recommend the wonderful books by Ted Andrews, including Enchantment of the Fairy Realm, Treasures of the Unicorn, and Animal Speak, in addition to Healing with the Fairies, by Doreen Virtue.

FAIRIES are the Guardian Angels of animals, plants, and nature in general, but they also support and teach people who, consciously or unconsciously, are feeling a strong connection to the animal and plant kingdoms.

Sometimes pets who have crossed send their guardian fairies to their former human guardians (“owners”) to comfort them.

ANIMALS and PLANTS can also act as our teachers and spiritual guides. Many different animals support us on our journey: Dogs give us their unconditional love; cats clear our energies and our home; dolphins bring us the vibration of joy, etc.

Plants, too, are wonderful healers, guardians, and pals. One of my most important guides during a very difficult time in my life was a banana tree, who gave me so much comfort and wise advice when I sat in the garden with her.

Household plants, who are often ignored as unconscious beings requiring nothing but sunlight and water, can also be surprisingly wise and comforting. The night before a difficult exam, I was praying for help and support when I suddenly merged with the plant that had been placed next to my desk. I had been studying at this desk for the past six months in preparation for this exam, and this plant had been with me the entire time. I could feel his male energy comforting me and transmitting the knowledge that I needed for the next day, as if the plant had been my study buddy and now reminded me of all that we had “learned together.” Needless to say, I passed the exam.

Totem animals are commonly associated with shamanism, but, shaman or not, everyone has totem/power animals. Totems are animal-guides who may reveal themselves to you via dreams, meditations, or, more subtly, through your own attraction to certain animals; in other words, when you feel mysteriously drawn to specific animals, you are becoming subtly aware of your totem animal(s). If you collect dolphin figurines, for example, then dolphin may be trying to communicate to you.

Each animal is connected to certain attributes, including personality traits and abilities; for example, the wolf is able to “see far into the distance.” In other words, someone who has wolf medicine has an understanding of the overall scheme of things and can see beyond the immediate environment and circumstances to the overall purpose. So, if the wolf comes into your life, he/she either reflects this same ability in you, or is an omen that a broader understanding of the immediate circumstance is imminent. Again, Ted Andrews’s book Animal Speak is an excellent reference book.

In truth, your totem animal(s) are an expression of your qualities and power; they are an extension of you.

Mythological animals are not fictitious creatures; rather, they are beings associated with the other planes and make themselves known via the human imagination, which is our connection to their dimensions. Hence, these creatures surface in “fictitious” stories and are then categorized as “make believe.” And, indeed, they do “make us believe.” With the energy changes of our planet, these creatures are now able to reveal themselves astrally, in meditation, and in Dreamtime.

I have met phoenixes, griffons, and unicorns, and they are my allies.

Surely you know the saying, “like the phoenix, out of the ashes,” so you can imagine the purpose of the phoenix when she/he comes into your life: know that a rebirth is imminent.

UNICORNS are healers and wise ones, and they initiate us into the deep mysteries.

There are also many hybrids, such as the dragon-phoenix, dragon-lion, etc.

EXTRATERRESTRIALS can also be members of our team. There are star people among us incarnated as humans who have had many incarnations on other planets and stars; they are often accompanied and counseled by members of their star family, who reside on other planets and/or dimensions.

Star beings remind us of our life purpose and of our abilities that are lying dormant within ourselves. They are conscious of us and can contact us mentally or in Dreamtime.

As “time and space“ do not exist in reality, our own parallel selves can contact us and help and guide us.

Richard Bach has written two wonderful books about this: Bridge across Forever and One.
